It has been such a long time since I last wrote a post. Life has been far from “slow” these last few months, and so my time has been filled by so many things which means the blog has really fallen behind and I have had no chance whatsoever to write all the posts I had in mind. Oh well, such is life! Between people visiting, the house being rewired and the kitchen remodel (post will follow on this!), there has been little time for anything else. BUT, we did manage to fit in a fabulous garden party for my husband and 9 of my wonderful friends’ birthday. This year was marking the 50th birthday for my hubby and many of my friends, so we decided to have a mega party all together this summer. Well, I can honestly say, it turned out to be one of the best party I have ever been to… and all in the comfort of our own garden! We had 10 people celebrating in total and over 100 guests. So we decided to hire a DJ, offer drinks and cake, and the rest of the food was a joint effort between the hosts and the guests.

I had only managed to finish painting the newly refurbed kitchen the day before the big day, so there was not much time for decorations outside, and I had to improvise with things I found laying around. Thankfully, we do keep solar panelled fairy lights outside all year round, as I love the magical atmosphere they create. So, after tidying up the garage where we would keep all the food, adding a few olive crates upside down in lieu of tables and chairs and a couple of strings of bunting I made the day before with some fabric scraps I had (see little video below), we were ready.

We also had a few bedsheet on the grass for people to sit on (yep, I didn’t have any picnic blankets!) and a few tea-lights for added atmosphere. It really looked quite sweet, especially considering we did not buy anything especially for the occasion, except some balloons. But judge for yourself….

And what a night we had…. some of my friends and kids even camped on the hill.
